the Year Award at the annual BBEX Awards held last Tuesday in North
Battleford. |
Customer service. Hard work. Going the extra mile.
These qualities were commonly cited by winners at this year's Battlefords Business Excellence (BBEX) Awards in North Battleford as the secrets for their success and the reason they were honoured.
Norsask Farm Equipment Ltd. needed all of those qualities just to win the top award category of the night on Tuesday ? Business of the Year ? nudging aside other worthy nominees, Gold Eagle Casino, Gold Eagle Lodge, Mark's Work Wearhouse and TNM Concrete Ltd.
The agricultural and recreational equipment dealership had previously won Business of the Year in 1994, but this was their first such honour under new ownership, as Leon Lozowchuk, Kevin Hadley and PFM Management bought Norsask from its founder Bill Volk three years ago.
Lozowchuk and Hadley were there to accept a BBEX Award made by John Vanderveen, who had hand crafted the awards all the winners received. They singled out the staff at Norsask for praise during their acceptance speeches.
"If it wasn't for our employees and our staff that work for us we wouldn't be in business here in town," said Lozowchuk to reporters. "They truly give their time, their effort and their expertise."
He thanked the BBEX committee for being nominated and said he believes their business won, in part, because of its commitment to great customer service.
"It's
great for the community, it's great for employee morale," Hadley said
of the BBEX Awards. "Everyone works hard, (they) try their best, trying
to provide customer service and do good for the community and this just
shows we're on the right track."

NEWS RELEASE
Nick Musters from Northland Recreation set a new World Record this morning on Lake of Bays by travelling 3,069km in a 24 hr period. The official record set last year in Wisconsin by another Ski-doo rider was 2,372. Yamaha had also staked claim to the record last year, but the distance of 2,906km has yet to be recognized by Guinness.
This accomplishment did not come easy and was a true Team Effort. 18hrs into the ride with the 800 Etec running consistent laps of over 90 MPH a stud from the track penetrated the heat exchanger and we lost all coolant. The rules state that a backup sled can be used but you must occur a 15 minute penalty. Nick remounted on the back up 800 Etec and was off in search of the record. Shortly after 8 am Nick surpassed the Yamaha mark with more than 1hr to go. The last 4 laps on the 10km course were run under 4min times with his best lap of 3:56. That is flying.
The BV2S helmet along with the Absolute Jacket and Boots kept Nick warm and dry he was able to focus on the task at hand.
This event was truly a testament to the Product and the Rider. It is one thing to ride a snowmobile fast in the daytime but imagine running at these speeds for 12hrs in the dark. The 800 Etec ran flawless and proved once again the Ski-doo dominance
Special thanks to our Marketing Team, Shows and Events and PAC Department for all their support.
